3 Minute Read:

Cellulite affects approximately 93 percent of women, regardless of whether or not they are overweight. And unlike most fat, cellulite is not easily lost.

Unfortunately, cellulite can be extremely detrimental to a woman’s self-confidence. Luckily, if cellulite is a problem for you, there are solutions out there.

What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a common and harmless skin condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh (primarily in women). Usually, people have cellulite on their thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen.

Generally speaking, no woman wants to have cellulite as it’s often associated with overweight people and makes for skin that isn’t perfectly smooth. But, you don’t have to be overweight to have cellulite.

So, as a result, simply losing weight or getting more fit won’t get rid of cellulite. Why? This is because cellulite is not like normal fat. Cellulite is the fat that gets wedged and stuck between the connective tissues beneath the skin.

How Do You Get Cellulite?

Cellulite results from an interaction between the connective tissue in the layer between the surface skin and the fat layer beneath it. As connective bands tighten, fat cells push through the connective tissues, giving the appearance of cellulite.

Why Do Women Get Cellulite More Often Than Men?

Women have fat cells and connective tissues that are arranged vertically, meaning it is easy for the fat to become wedged or for the connective bands to tighten. However, men have tissue with a criss-cross structure, making it harder for the fat to protrude through. This explains why fewer men have cellulite.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite

As cellulite isn’t a weight issue, it can be very difficult to get rid of it naturally. There are creams available, but most of these are pseudo-science and won’t actually achieve visible or lasting results. For most women, once cellulite appears, it will be there forever. So, it’s no surprise you haven’t been able to get rid of it.

One potential solution is the Venus Freeze™. This procedure uses radiofrequency technology to stimulate collagen and firm the skin, which can improve and reduce the appearance of cellulite. This is a noninvasive treatment meaning it requires no downtime. And, best of all, the treatment is pain-free, with most patients seeing impressive results in just a few sessions.

Venus Freeze™ is safe and effective on all skin types and shades. You can book a consultation with the be-You-ti-ful Med Spa to find out if Venus Freeze™ is right for you.

What Other Treatments Should I Consider?

If you are struggling with cosmetic issues related to cellulite and excess fat, non-surgical fat reduction with CoolSculpting® is something to consider. CoolSculpting® uses targeted cooling to “freeze” unwanted fat.

This technology attaches panels to the treatment area (such as the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen) and cools the tissues, lowering the temperature of the fat cells below a survivable level. This process essentially kills the fat cells, and the damaged cells are eliminated naturally from the body, resulting in a slimmer, smoother physique. While CoolSculpting® cannot target cellulite directly, the reduction of the surrounding fat cells may help to minimize the prominence of cellulite.
